    THANK YOU FROM THE DEOL’S
    Dear Friends and Neighbors,
    We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for participating in the Poker tournament on Friday, April 8th to benefit our daughter, Kirin Deol. The sum of $1,300 was raised and donated to her from this event.
    Kirin is our oldest daughter, 15 year old, who is full of life and energy! She is your neighbor in Cibolo Canyons who also attends Johnson High School as a sophomore.  She is a National Honor student and very proud to be a Varsity Cheerleader at her school; which is her passion.
    She was recently diagnosed with Thyroid cancer during the past holiday season and went through a successful operation on March 29th at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston which included a full thyroidectomy procedure and the removal of lymph nodes from her throat.
    She is recovering very well and has already begun attending her school again at Johnson as of Monday, April 11th.  Kirin also went through radiation therapy on April 29th to battle the spread of cancer cells in her lungs.  The doctors are predicting a very good prognosis after this treatment and we are hoping she will be cancer free soon.
    Our special thanks to our friends and “Poker Buddies” Jim & Jodi Clear, Beau & Nicole Neal, Mike & Melanie Rathbun, and Susan Wright for putting together this event and at the Cibolo Canyons amenity center.  Thank you all very much for your kindness, prayers, and well wishes.
    Words cannot express how we feel and are very blessed to be surrounded with such friends and neighbors.

    FITNESS CLASSES
    


    We’ve had some interest expressed for both Zumba and Yoga at the Amenity Center and some limited interest in a water aerobics class.  We are working on firming up times/instructors and the following looks like the schedule:

    
MWF:
Zumba 9:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
 

    Wed:
Yoga 7:30 p.m. (45 minutes)
 


    More times/classes can be added but we must get a clear picture with this schedule if those that would commit.  Please send an email to: susan@cibolocanyons.com as to class/time/frequency you would attend – classes will be $10/max (discounts will be offered for long-term commitments).

     

    RENTING THE CIBOLO CANYONS AMENITY CENTER

    If you would like to reserve the Cibolo Canyons Amenity Center for your upcoming event, please contact Pat Palacios at Association Management Services (pat@ams-sa.com) . You can check the Calendar on the Cibolo Canyons website to see if the date you are considering is available, but Pat will have the most up to date information on availability.  Pat will let you know what forms need to be filled out, the cost of the rental and other details, such as picking up and returning the keys.

    STAGE ONE WATER RESTRICTIONS

    Stage One watering restrictions are now in place for ALL San Antonio Water Systems customers.  Watering with an irrigation system or sprinkler is allowed only once a week before 10 a.m. or after 8 p.m. on your designated watering day as determined by your address:
    ADDRESS ENDS IN:               WATERING DAY:

    SWIM TEAM UPDATE

    It is time once again to UNLEASH THE BEAST here in Cibolo Canyons!  Summer swim team is just around the corner.  Swim Team is open to Cibolo Canyons’ residents ages 5-18.  Swimmers must be able to swim the width of the pool without assistance.
    Team practices began Monday, May 16 in the evening only from 6-8pm.  There will be NO evening practices on Wednesday due to pool maintenance.  Morning and evening practices will begin Monday, June 6.  Morning practice will be 8-10am Monday-Friday.  Evening practices will continue from 6-8pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  
    We will have 4 Swim Meets during the month of June, one per week between June 4 and July 1.  The exact dates will be set soon and the team will be notified.  Two of these meets will be hosted by Cibolo Canyons and two will be at other team pools.  The Championship Meet will be held at the Josh Davis Natatorium on July 8 and 9 for those swimmers with qualifying times from one of the above meets.  Children 6 and under may not swim in individual events at the Championships.  Swimmers 11-18 will compete on Friday, July 8 and swimmers 7-10 will compete on Saturday, July 9.
    Each team is required to have officials attend a training clinic.  This will be discussed in detail at the Parent Meeting.  These clinic dates are May 17 and May 24 at the Josh Davis Natatorium.  They are held in the evening and last about an hour and a half.   
    Swim team is a wonderful experience for our children and our neighborhood!  Parent involvement and participation is necessary in order for our team to participate in the league.

    SWIM LESSON INFORMATION

    The sun is out and Cibolo Canyons residents are already enjoying time at the pool!  If you have any questions or would like to sign up please e-mail Kyrenda King at her NEW E-MAIL: coachkyrenda@aol.com.  She teaches all ages and levels in a small group setting of a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 5.  While setting the classes she will try to match age and experience, or you are more than welcome to create a class yourself (or a partial class and she will find the rest of the students).   One session is $60 and consists of four, thirty minute lessons and must be during a one week span (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) at the same time each day.  Payment may be in cash or check (made out to Kyrenda King) and brought to the lifeguard station during guarding or lesson hours. Payment must be made a week in advance (the Monday before the start of your session) to hold your spot. If you are planning on making your own group, please notify her so she doesn't fill the session time you are thinking of filling.

    Session 2: Week of June 13
    Session 3: Week of June 20
    Session 4: Week of June 27
    ****No lessons the week of July 4****
    Session 5: Week of July 11

    If you are thinking of signing up for more than one session, Kyrenda recommends skipping a week in between to work with your child to solidify what they learned the week before. This helps to strengthen their technique and ensure stronger skills, but it only works if practice happens outside of classes.  For scheduling effective groups she will need the following information:

    Once again, I9 Sports will be providing Multi-sports camps at the Cibolo Canyons Soccer Field this summer.

    HALF-DAY PROGRAM: Ages 3-10, Your camper will explore different sports including soccer, flag football/cheer, and other learning positioning, specific ball control, passing, shooting, receiving and running. We use FUN drills and scrimmages to teach! Instructors have various backgrounds from high school coaching to college-level play and all are committed to having FUN while igniting a passionate interest in this sport. Instructor ratio is 1:15. Group assignments will be determined by age/grades and skill level. We will also make sure your child is provided with enough hydration during the camps.

    THE BIG GAME EXPERIENCE!  Parents are invited to watch their children apply their skills during a real game setting on the last day of camp! Each child will be teamed up to play in a real game coached by our staff and the focus will be inclusiveness and instruction! Everyone will be treated like a winner!

    EQUIPMENT: All campers will receive an official i9 Sports t-shirt and gift to keep! Players may wear shorts or pants of any kind, but we don't recommend jeans.
    MULTI SPORT: Tennis shoes or cleats will work for activities, shin guards are recommended for soccer.

    SOLICITORS IN THE AREA

    We have been getting numerous reports of solicitors in each of the neighborhoods recently.  If you have a solicitor come to your home, please try to get as much information as possible- name, company name, etc. and report it to Ted Brocker at AMS (ted@ams-sa.com) so we can follow up with the companies to inform them of our no solicitation policy.  Some solicitations are being done by individuals looking for sponsorships to band camps etc.  If you feel that the solicitor is not legitimate, or if you are suspicious of the solicitor at all, please call the sheriff's dept. immediately- 210-335-6000 (non emergency) or 911.


    I-9 Sports Flag Football and Soccer Leagues

     

    Spots are still available for our upcoming Spring Flag Football and Soccer leagues which start on March 21st!  Sign up today to get your child's spot on the rosters!

    • North San Antonio Flag Football and Soccer early registration goes through February 22nd.
    • Discounts will be offered to Cibolo Canyons residents
    • To register, click on the website link below. When it asks "How did you hear about us?" Enter Cibolo Canyons.  Under special requests mention that you would like to be on a Cibolo Canyons team.
    • Games will be played at NEYSO Soccer Complex at Specht Rd. and Blanco
    • Practices at the Cibolo Canyons Soccer Fields will be dependent on number of Cibolo Canyons residents signed up.

    BRUNCH AT 18 OAKS- JW MARRIOTT RESORT:

    PARKING IN THE STREET

     

    We have received numerous complaints about residents parking in the streets throughout the community.  Please note the deed restrictions that prohibit on street parking:

     

    2.16 On Street Parking.  No Owner or resident may park a vehicle on any road or street within the Development unless in the event of an emergency or as otherwise approved in writing by the Board.  Guests and/or visitors may not park a vehicle on any road or street within the Development for more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours unless in the event of an emergency or as otherwise approved in writing by the Board.  "Emergency" for purpose of this Section 2.16 means an event which jeopardizes life or property.  "Parked" as used herein shall be defined as a vehicle left unattended for more than thirty (30) minutes.

     


    GARBAGE/RECYCLE BINS

     

    Trash and Recycle bins may be placed at the curb only on the morning of pickup and must be stored by the evening of the pickup day.  Bins may not be left out over night.  Bins must be stored so that they are hidden from street view.


    VEHICLE BREAK- INS

     

    Some residents in Vallitas have reported recent vehicle break-ins in their neighborhood.  Please remember to remove all valuables from your cars, and park in your garage if possible.  This will discourage these types of occurrences.

    GREENBELT CLEANING SCHEDULE

     

    Beginning in March, the greenbelt areas will be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.

    The schedule will be as follows:

    March-November: 1 time per month (generally during the 2nd week of the month)

    (Weather Permitting)

    December - February: As needed


    COMMUNITY WIDE SPRING GARAGE SALE

    When: Saturday, March 26th
